Parts & Service World – My first deployment after basic training

31. Oct 2018 | Education + Careers

Today, I’m reporting back on my first trade fair! Parts & Service World, the trade fair for agricultural and garden technology, took place in Kassel from 13-14 October. At the event, everything revolved around agricultural and garden machinery: visitors were even able to watch repairs being performed live.

The calm before the storm

8 o’clock on Saturday morning: the finishing touches are being applied to the trade fair stand. Just half an hour later, the exhibition hall is buzzing, and our stand is packed. I was very curious to find out about the concerns and interests of the visitors to our stand. The positive reactions to our products from visitors were also very pleasing. It’s a kind of personal success story when a visitor to the stand explains their technology- and repair-related problems with agricultural machinery and you’re able to offer them an ideal solution right off the bat. Visitors’ interest was piqued by our new exhibit in particular, which combines three products that offer real practical benefits for commercial vehicles in general – and automotive engineering in particular. On the one hand, we had the LEDs’inno smart lighting system which offers an LED-based, plug & play lighting system for all manner of trailers. On the other hand, there was our BDS-2 LED clearance light with reversing sensors, not to mention our trailer test case, which enables the lighting on trailers or towing vehicles to be tested independently by just one person.

The Innovation Award at Parts & Service World

One special highlight of the trade fair was the award ceremony for products and services of an especially innovative nature. We were proud recipients of the silver medal. Our BDS-2 LED clearance light with optical reversing sensor was recognised for the decisive safety and cost benefits which make it stand out against the competition: on reversing, the sensor detects obstacles as far away as 4.5 m from the towing vehicle, thus enabling the driver to park safely. Three different flash frequencies provide a reliable indication of the decreasing distance from the obstacle.

We were proud to receive a silver medal.

After-work party in Majorca!

The evening event beckoned shortly after the end of the trade fair on the Saturday evening. The motto: “Party in Majorca”. We were greeted by a wonderful buffet and refreshments. After dinner, Jürgen Milski and Loona took to the stage to provide a party atmosphere.

To sum up, I can safely say that we had a very successful trade fair with a lot of visitors. For me, it was especially enjoyable not to talk to our customers over the phone for a change, but rather to answer questions face-to-face and generally get to know our customer base better.
