Company Party Hawaii – Organized by our trainees

22. October 2019

A successful company party was held once again this year. This time, the theme was “Hawaii”. As the organisation is carried out by a different division each year, the trainees and students were once again responsible for planning the event after a long break.

Planning

As in recent years, our primary aim was to ensure a relaxed atmosphere with lots of fun and an entertaining programme. To this end, all trainees and students came together in regular meetings to discuss how to make our company party a memorable event with the budget provided. This required lots of planning, organisation and, above all, teamwork! Due to the warm and sunny summer days over the past few years, one thing was clear to us: our company party had to take place in a location outside the company site, with the theme “ALOHA – Hawaii”.

Once a suitable location had been found for the event, we continued with the rest of the planning: What food should there be, what games do we want to play, how do we provide the necessary entertainment?

The company party

The long-awaited day finally came on 21/09/2019. Our colleagues were greeted with flowers, lemonade, ice cream, donuts and plenty of sunshine at our colourfully decorated location. After a short orientation phase, we started the games chosen to match the theme. Various teams competed against each other in rounds for the golden pineapple and had to demonstrate their skills in disciplines such as limbo, volleyball, pineapple skittles or coconut throwing. Lots of fun was had by all and the competition brought out the fighting spirit in every participant.

Numerous prizes

After completing the games, the colleagues were rewarded for their hard work with BBQ culinary treats. Once everyone had eaten their fill, it was time to announce the winner of our Hawaiian games. The “Hawaii-Seven-O” team were the proud winners of the golden pineapple. The teams in second and third place also didn’t go away empty handed and were rewarded for their efforts with a silver or bronze pineapple.

But the evening’s entertainment programme was still far from over. Of course, the management team and division managers didn’t want to miss out on the fun. The men had the opportunity to prove themselves once in a competition involving pineapple pressing. In the energetic fight with the pineapple, the participants dropped out with exhaustion one after the other until we finally had our winner. And the winner was Managing Director Dr. Holger Drewing. He was delighted to be the proud recipient of another golden pineapple.

Another highlight was the “most colourful parrot” award. In line with our theme, the colleagues dressed in colourful Hawaiian shirts and a wide range of matching accessories with the hopes of securing the title of “most colourful parrot”. Here too, our long-standing and dear colleague was rewarded and celebrated by everyone!

After this eventful afternoon, we rounded off the evening with music and a cosy fire.
