Despite inflation: Germans are still paying attention to product quality

You just have to go to the supermarket on the corner to be reminded every day that everything is getting more expensive. However, while it's true that consumers are paying more attention to price in supermarkets, things are extremely different in other areas. Why is this? And what does this mean for automotive workshops?

Inflation, interrupted supply chains, and the list goes on: In times when the cost of many goods is rising constantly, price is becoming more and more for an increasing number of consumers. However, it is clear that the majority are not willing to compromise on quality.

86 percent are saving on food

According to a study by the market research institute Appinio 92 percent of the approximately 6000 consumers surveyed are worried about inflation. No wonder: After all, nearly 70 percent can afford less due to inflation. The logical consequence: When it comes to food shopping, people are looking at the price tag more often. Almost 86 percent of those surveyed said that they have switched to cheaper products and brands in supermarkets.

People are worried about food and energy costs - as well as fuel prices

Another study even put the figure at 89 percent. According to the study, 77 percent of those surveyed at supermarkets are placing more importance on the price than on the quality (56 percent) or the taste (52 percent) of the products.

In addition to rising food costs, energy prices are also a cause for concern among the German population (72 percent). And - the classic! - fuel prices are also worrying: Almost two thirds of Germans are paying more attention to prices at the petrol station.

Germans want to focus more on product quality

But at the same time, another clear trend is also emerging. For example, the Appinio studio found that two thirds of Germans want to focus more on product quality in the future despite inflation. The old saying "buy cheap and buy twice" is clearly experiencing a revival.

This should also continue to apply to maintenance and repairs on the car. Most drivers naturally consider their safety and the reliability and value retention of their vehicle to be more important than finding the lowest possible price. This is also reflected in the following: According to the figures from KÜS, around 85 percent of those surveyed rely on their automotive workshop when selecting parts.
